Grade 1 & 2 Students Taking Action in Their “Sharing the Planet” Unit
As part of their year-long unit, “Sharing the Planet,” our Grade 1 and 2 students are actively engaging in protecting the environment by doing a garbage pick-up around the school community. Through this hands-on project, they are learning about the different types of garbage littered in our community and how human actions are impacting marine animals and the broader ecosystem.
In addition to their environmental efforts, students are making connections with math by graphing the amount of garbage collected each month. This project is helping build discipline, reinforce important math skills, and promote awareness.
Aligned with the PYP framework, which encourages students to take meaningful action beyond the classroom, this is just the first step for these young learners on their journey to becoming environmental stewards. We are incredibly proud of their commitment to making a positive impact on the planet!
