In our How the World Works unit, students are creatively using flashlights to build a tower—not a physical one, but one made of shadows! Their challenge is to make a shadow tall enough to touch the tape on the wall. The catch? They can only use blocks that stay within a taped area on the floor.
By positioning the flashlight and arranging blocks strategically, they’re discovering how light and shadow interact. This activity is a fun way to explore concepts like shadow length, light angles, and how objects can appear larger or smaller based on light placement.
It’s amazing to see our young learners experiment with light to reach new “heights” and bring their shadow tower to life!
