Parenting Workshop

Parenting Workshop

Parents as Teachers

~Learning Opportunities for Parents at SIS~
The time a child spends with a teacher and with their parent’s influences and develops their self-concept and values.
At Shonan International School both parents and teachers learn social and emotional skills to support our child’s mental health.

Philosophy

SIS provides compulsory workshops for parents and teachers. These workshops are to learn about the social and emotional developments of each child. During these workshops, we discuss how we, as adults can implement the same strategies to help support the children’s’ social and emotional well-being.
Positive Reinforcement will include attitude such as:

  • Express in words and convey the child’s strengths
  • To accept the child’s understanding towards things
  • Not to compare with siblings and others
  • To trust the child’s decision and abilities
  • To be able to apologize to the child when we did something
  • To be able to request for a child’s help.
  • To understand the role of the adult vs. that of the child

Parents will learn to use encouragement using positive reinforcement appropriate to the development stage of their child.
