    Grade summer

Grade School Summer School will undertake three different inquiry projects. The student will use engineering design to pose questions, seek answers and develop solutions. Naturally inquiry-based learning forces students to apply both scientific concepts and mathematical skills to help solve real world problems. Additionally, students will brush up their academic skills in reading, writing and speech.

    Ocean Camp

Ocean Camp is developed to provide an educational and recreational environment to instruct young people how to handle themselves safely in a variety of ocean situations. Students spend a week camping in Shimoda, Shizuoka, and create play in an environment free of games and TV. The program aims to develop respect for the marine environment and build confidence when interacting with the ocean. Furthermore, it is the goal of camp to introduce survival skills that are required to camp out in nature for a week! Our SIS teachers, will help facilitate a variety of environmental tasks for students to nurture knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to become nature smart.

    Study Abroad

At Shonan International School, students are constantly nurturing traits that adhere to a global-minded person. Therefore from an early age, we provide opportunities for students to cultivate their Cultural Intelligence (CQ). This is the ability to work cross-culturally and be able to express their personal strengths in diverse cultures. The goal is not to be a chameleon everywhere you go but to figure out how to best communicate who I am in a different place. In 2019, students chose to study in either Italy or Canada.
